stormy weather

Storms descending from the north tend to to be brief, yet violent, one spawning the tornado that removed all the trees from the neighborhood a couple years back.

The other day was had a series of storms that followed that pattern, fortunately tornado free, yet still quite violent, removing numerous roofs and loosing plenty of limbs.

The first past just north of our home -- by about 2 miles -- so we only had a few sprinkles and wind.  The second went directly over us, however, the two most violent cells -- one passed just north, the other just south -- left us only wet, and casually hailed.   Each blew past in under thirty minutes, both times plummeting the temperature over twenty degrees, and both followed by sunshine mixed with dramatic clouds.

The front approaching, sunshine behind
 Ominous!

 Dipping clouds are not welcome.
The storm was brief but left nearly an inch of rain and witness (Witness!) to poorly maintained gutters!
A kiss goodbye as the storm moved to Canada.
The sky opened up as the storm passed, peaks of the cumulus clouds in the distance, illuminated by the setting sun.

Looking back Northwest, cirrus types cottened the sky, colored by the lensed light, the moon alit-atop the neighbor's maple.
