Rats in our Language

William has started to use the word "dang-it" when wanting to express his frustration.  While he may or may not have picked this word up from moi, we have tried hard to deter the use of it.  (I am also trying hard to refrain from utilizing it).

We have encouraged him to use the word "rats" instead.

(And let me tell you, "Oh rats" sounds really cute coming from an adorable 3 year old with a cute little lisp!)

We try not to make a big deal out of it when he does say dang-it.  I mean, honestly, it's not the worst word out there.....it's just kinda close to a worst word out there.   We just remind him that rats is a better choice.  It's working about 50% of the time.

Earlier today, Will was watching a Handy Manny dvd and became puzzled about how one of the scenarios was playing out.  He shouted out "What the Rats?!" and then turned to me and said "Momma - did I say it right this time?"

I think we may need a little bit more work on this one...
