In the past week, we have met with Arianna and Jared's teachers for the first quarter conferences. Needless to say, any anxiety we may have had was quickly squashed in the first few moments of our meetings.
Jared has the same teacher this year as he did last. She still loves him! He is quite the social butterfly and we have threatened attaching velcro to his chair and behind but they repeatedly told us how much joy he brings to the classroom. And, oh yeah, he's kinda super smart too! What they especially love about J is that they can be addressing the class on a topic and J will be fiddling with something in his desk and staring out the window but as soon as they call on him, he will basically repeat everything they just said, verbatim! Drives us all nuts!!!!
Ari's set up is a bit different in junior high as she has a different teacher for each subject which = 6 conferences in one night.
We soon learned after meeting with the second teacher that they don't expect parents like us at these conferences. When we introduced ourselves, they all had the same response "Ah yes, Arianna....very quiet, very good student. She must have all A's?" Well - yeah....pretty much!
When we came home, we hugged our kids and thanked them for being so AWESOME! While it's usually parents that spoil their kids rotten, we have to admit that they have done the same for us!!!
We love 'em!

i admit, parent teacher conference was pay off time for us too. It's nice isn't it? to have kids that work hard and the teachers have good things to say! Amen.
