Detroit Cass Tech was able to hold on Saturday in its Division 1 football semifinal to upset Lake Orion, 34-27, sending the Technicians on a walk to Ford Field for the second straight year.
Cass Tech (11-2) will defend its title Saturday at 1 p.m. on Fox Sports Detroit when it meets Detroit Catholic Central, which beat Rockford in its semifinal game Saturday.
Last season, Cass Tech routed Catholic Central, 49-13, to win its first football state championship in school history.
The Technicians won their fifth straight game to end Lake Orion’s (11-2) season.
