My Promised Second Post. (I have to type quick - the psych ward is on it's way to get me!)

Today turned out exactly as I didn't plan it!  We did get our family photos done.  That was planned. It took some time to find the right picture as someone was usually looking in the wrong direction in almost every picture.  I thought about showing a preview....but you'll see it soon enough in the Christmas card.

After pictures, we wandered next door to Olive Garden for lunch.  Lunch was planned.  It was yummy!

As we were sitting in Olive Garden, the kids asked if we could walk next door to Petco to see the kittens and birds.  We agreed.  Not planned.

The Michigan Humane Society recently opened a satellite office at this Petco.  We wandered back to the dog cages and instantly fell in love with Ranger. Not planned.

He is an almost 2 year old treeing-walker coon hound.  (That's a mouth-full!).  Basically, his breed was used to hunt racoons (I feel like my southern roots are showing here), so he could climb a tree if we let him....we probably won't.  That would be an awkward call to the local fire department...."hello, my dog is stuck in the tree!" DOH!
He is active and requires an active household.  They saw William running around and decided we were perfect for him!  His previous owner surrendered him about a week ago because he couldn't keep up with him.
He is house trained.  He does commands pretty well.  My favorite - he'll shake your hand!  I love that!!!!!
He does like to jump up and we will quickly work on that one.
Riley seems to accept him.  Though they had quite the time running around the back yard together.  I think Riley likes him, he just doesn't want to admit it yet!

So, yes, we didn't set out today planning to bring another dog home.  But it just seemed like the right thing to do.

And did I mention he will shake  your hand?  love it, love it, love it!

What a great story! And what a great dog. Drew's southern roots (and mine!) are jealous.
