How Today Played Out

We went to breakfast with my parents and then headed to the cemetery.  Bacia's headstone came in and we wanted to see it before snow hit the ground and it would then be covered till next May.
We drove through the old neighborhood which is pretty run down and pitiful looking at this time.  I would tell the kids stories of what I did where and who lived here and there.  They just kinda shook their head along and let the old lady reminisce.
It's a beautiful headstone for my Grandma.  We cried.  This was the last step in the process for us.  And it was hard to see her name there.  So permanent now.
We headed home to get our car and then Dan and I piled the kids into the car for a trip to Belle Isle.  We made stops at the Dossin Museum, the Conservatory and the Nature Center.  Again, for me it was a trip down memory lane.  And at the Dossin Museum, they have a huge display dedicated to Boblo Island.  I have such great memories of summer trips to Boblo.  Even the hour boat ride to get there was awesome.  There was usually a DJ on the boat and we had a blast dancing around.
On our way home, we stopped to pick up a few groceries.  I only have to pack school lunches for two days this week....and I am only going into the office on those two days as well.  I love Thanksgiving week for several reasons....and one of those is the shortened school/work week!
Once we arrived back home, Ari and I both decided we still felt like crying.  We just needed to get it out.  It's therapeutic.  Dan asked me if I felt like making dinner and in between sniffles, I said no.
He just headed out with the kids to pick up pizza!
I may switch around one more load of laundry this evening.  But I am thinking I may be calling today done.

Sounds like an exhausting, emotional, but fulfilling day. Hope you all enjoyed the pizza and some down time this evening!!
