School Days...

My Bacia used to sing this song...

School days, school days,
Dear old golden rule days.
'Readin' and 'ritin' and 'rithmetic,
Taught to the tune of a hick'ry stick.
You were my queen in calico,
I was your bashful barefoot beau,
And you wrote on my slate,
'I love you, so,'
When we were a couple of kids.
(School Days School Days Music by Gus Edwards; Lyrics by Will D. Cobb, 1907)

I'm not sure my kids would have appreciated that song this morning....alas, it was the first day of school.....and, actually, can anyone tell me what happened to summer? 'Cuz, I was thinking it had just started. Aside from the kids, I'm not ready for school to start!
Summer - we need to chat because I am thinking you just got here...and now you are leaving???? Really????
But I digress (for now....)

Here is my starting line-up for the 2011/2012 school year....

Leading the line-up is Arianna - my 8th grader (whoa! wait - did I just say 8th grade....as in "will be starting high school next year?" good grief!)
She starts every day with French class....seriously, that's a pretty cool way to start the day.

In the middle, we have Jared....the 5th grader. He is in his last year at the Montessori elementary school and had a great first day once he saw that some of his bestest buds were in the same classroom.

And batting in the clean up spot, we have William. Technically, he did not start school today but he felt he needed a back pack and a lunch bag to go to Grandma's house. The sad puppy face is because he misses hanging out with his big brother and big sister. Awwwww......

Here's to an awesome, lots 'o learning, fun, creative, artistic year!!!!
(and would it be too much to ask for a stress free school year also???? pretty please....)

I'm with you--I am still feeling like summer just started--what??

Crazy.

BUT ALAS!
It's back to school time again! I heard our neighbors having their ceremonial back to school photo shoot outside this morning. My windows were open, I could hear the excitement in the little voices but I was so glad to be able to snuggle in bed with my little ones!

It will come quickly.

Your darlings look great--happy new school year to all!!

Um, excuse me, who are these children? Seriously, they all look so amazing and so grown up! I hope I will be able to recognize them next week! Can't wait to see you all.
