16 on the 16th

Today, Dan and I celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary. Wow...it is hard to believe sometimes that it has been 16 years (especially since I am still only 29!) and then other days, it seems like we've always been together. (I totally mean that in a good way.)

We both took today off. Taking the older two to school and Will to Grandma's. We have a fun day planned of just doing stuff. It doesn't matter what we do, it matters that we are together. Oh and the planned dinner in Mexican Town is just an added bonus!

Since our pictures weren't digital way back then (ya know, like cave man days!), I had to scan this one in....looking back on the picture brought back so many memories of that day and the days leading up to it.....

• The day was picture perfect. Sunny, warm, not a cloud in the sky.

• I ate a banana for breakfast before heading off to get my hair done. I wasn't hungry (nerves?) but my Mom insisted I eat something. Banana, it was. And that was the only thing I ate till the reception.

• I found a picture of my dress in a bridal magazine and was determined that it would be mine. I didn't even want to entertain the thought of another dress...this was the dress for me. Luckily our little local dress shop had it.

• If I were to get married now, I wouldn't even entertain the thought of that dress. Oh my - what was I thinking???? That wrap around the shoulder thing??????

• Dan and I had gone to the beach a week before our wedding. I had a bathing suit with shoulder straps. I burned. Badly.

• Can't tell in the pics though. My make-up person was awesome!

• Our photographer had surgery right before our wedding to correct a color blindness problem.

• Dan's Uncle George got yelled at by our photographer because he wouldn't stop taking pictures over his shoulder.

• When Ari was younger, she would look through our wedding album and would always stop at the last picture and would laugh and exclaim "Mommy is soapy". Wh-what? We could never figure this one out. And of course, now she doesn't remember, so I will always be soapy in one of my wedding pics.

• We had a crystal dolphin cake topper. I had it on a bookshelf for a few years after our wedding. Dan was dusting one day and it fell. As much as he disliked it, I think he felt bad that it broke.

• Dan looks hot in a tux with tails!

• I am happier today than I was 16 years ago. And I will probably be happier tomorrow than I am today. I like how that works!

Happy 16 years to my most wonderful Mr!
