Drifting, drafting

It might appear that we only have 2 children at times and that is because the older children get, the less willing they are to be captured on film. Also, Ari spent much of the trip up north barricaded in her bunk on her computer and that's not exactly a photo opportunity.

But she did venture out for a number of hikes, including the meandering, fruitless eagle hunt out to Waugochance Point.

We initially followed the marked path on our pirates treasure map until we found the spot where the booty was buried. We dug for hours and didn't find any loot but at least there was a point:

Ari also joined me on a late night hike to the beach where we picked off constellations and admired the low horizon hung moon:
And of course, everyone was forced to visit Paradise and the falls where, here, the two older kids thoughtfully reflect on the cascading water:
Likewise, Ft. Michillimackinac, located at the base of the bridge. I think it's amusing that anyone can just walk up to the pilings of the Mackinac bridge with not an eyebrow raised by our benevolent authorities (right, Peter Watts?).. Yet, get close as 100 feet of the Ambassador bridge and homeland security will have you tased in two breaths, habeas corpus a winsome fantasy.

Maybe the constant parade of maintenance workers are actually undercover homeland security agents, surreptitiously eyeballing all us evildoers.

Mike Rowe (Secret Agent, Mike Rowe!) is obviously not a very big guy based on the size of the access panels to the interior (and also insane, having walked to the top of that tower).
William was concerned the sea gulls might also be in on the nefarious scheme. He tried to chase down one of these avian agents but they kept giving him the slip.
