Daucus carota

A field of Queen Anne's Lace

Anyone who has ever smelled Queen Anne's Lace is unsurprised this is related to the carrot -- in fact, it is wild carrot. However the root is best eaten early before it becomes super stringy, though, it makes a nice alternative to chewing gum at that point..

A fun trick for the kids: The flowers easily take on the color of the water the cut stems are placed in. However, some care should be taken as the plants can also cause discoloration of handlers' hands.

Erg! They mowed the stingin' field! Why would you waste your effort mowing an open meadow?
