Chihiro knew something was amiss when Kaonashi refused another toad

Jared had been complaining of an upset stomach frequently, recently, resultantly grievously reducing his appetite.

A thing about Jared is he is very ponderous, considers situations – mulling outcomes, results of actions or words and acts as he believes will be to his greatest benefit or lead to the best course of events.

That is to say, Jared did not have an upset stomach.
Considering the above photo, you can notice a gap just beyond his lower left premolars, the result of, for the second consecutive trip to the zoo, a tooth leaving his mouth.

It had become dispositioned so to be painful when he ate. However, he thought that if he brought that to my attention I would pluck it out and he wanted not part of that, stating, after the fact, "I just like to let my teeth fall out naturally." Naturally.

He then proceeded to eat us out of house and home which, for this week, will work out fine.
