Alternate zoo of reality

As Jen mentioned we recently caravanned (cough) to Detroit's spectacle of creatures. Since our state carries roughly 75% of the national debt we are obliged to sacrifice certain indulgences, such as expressway maintenance. This has led to not only the exciting navigation through fanciful freeway fjords but also lovely fields of wild flowers along the roads.

Immolations aside, it really looks much nicer than the pock marked, filth infused grass they hertofor attempted to maintain.

But enough about that. We also went to the zoo and during our long walk found this guy

Click it to see a really nice Rana Catesbeiana -- American Bullfrog. We may be obsessed with herps! (We didn't get a photo but we also found a really interesting American Toad in our backyard. Obviously Bufo Americanus but he was a dark green!)

There were a few animals actually in the exhibits as well

A
tortoise? I think (it's a healthy fixation...)

Crooked camel and depressed white lipped deer

Incredibly photogenic if demure Pea Hen

Enrapt Symians

The train! Whoot!

Butterflies

And a sign you can't read that says "Pay toilet, 5 cents."

Seemed an odd command..
